Â鶹ŮÀÉ MFA student Sydney Woods was part of a crew led by mural artist Craig McInnis that painted a mural at the Boca Raton Airport. The mural is anÌý historical timeline commemorating significant events in the Boca Raton airport's history and contributions to the city and region.

"The project's theme was to celebrate the airport's past, present and future," said Woods

The masonry security wall, which isÌý 135’ x 8’, is situated on the airport's southern half and took 10 days to paint. It is strategically placed for travelers' visibility, as well as the air traffic control tower and parts of the Â鶹ŮÀÉ campus. Anyone lucky to get a glimpse will see an explosion of color!

The Boca Raton Airport began as a grass strip located on the present-day west side of Â鶹ŮÀÉ's campus. In 1957, Boca Raton was selected as the site for Florida's fifth public university. The airport released a thousand acres of land for educational purposes, setting the stage for the development of Â鶹ŮÀÉ as it is known today. According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the airport brings in an estimated $693 million to the region's economy and employs 4,843 people annually.
