I teach courses in broadcast journalism, public affairs coverage, and media studies. My professional background includes twenty years of on-air and management experience in public radio, in addition to an internship at the BBC World Service in London. Since entering academia, I have taught high school students at the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, as well as, college students at Palm Beach State College, Indian River State College, Broward College, Nova Southeastern University, and (most recently) Â鶹ŮÀÉ.
Creatively, my interests center on student and faculty collaborations in the production of radio news and documentaries. My broadcast journalism students and I produce , a weekly local radio news magazine modeled after public radio programs in this genre. Our show is accessible through . I have also produced documentaries touching on a wide range of cultural, social, and political topics. This work includes Encircling Skies: The Â鶹ŮÀÉ Residency of Libby Larsen (2012), Past Meets Present: The Â鶹ŮÀÉ Salango Field School (2011), and Driving Our Lives Away: South Florida’s Transportation Dilemma (2007).
