Â鶹ŮÀÉ

The story of Carrie has been ingrained in pop culture since Stephen King’s novel was published in 1974. The first film adaption two years later solidified the image of a young woman in a pink prom dress soaked in blood. This story of a girl who was bullied so mercilessly that her suppressed rage manifested in such a violent way has captured the attention of audiences for generations.

However, the story of Carrie is, at its core, a story of rejection and the need to be accepted. Every character desires to be seen and understood. Even the complicated and layered character of Carrie’s mother, Margaret, has a background of exclusion and neglect.Ìý

The students of the Â鶹ŮÀÉ Department of Theatre and Dance Department have spent the last month exploring this narrative and putting their hearts and souls into choreography, music, and storytelling. They bring a fresh perspective to this story that has been told frequently over the last 50 years. It has been a pleasure to guide them on this journey and I could not be more proud of their work.Ìý

The reason we as a society continue to return to the story of Carrie is that all of us understand the universal truth behind exclusion. We all understand how it feels to be cast out, pushed aside, or overlooked. We all understand the anger that comes along with that.Ìý

My hope is that our version of Carrie leads to reflection on the consequences of this exclusion and how we, as a society, can continually find ways to lead with humanity and kindness.

Valentina Rodriguez (Stage Manager) Ìýis a BFA Performance senior, and she is thrilled to be stage managing Carrie. This production marks her first time stepping into the role of Stage Manager, and she is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an incredible production and creative team. Valentina would like to thank all of her mentors, professors, friends, and fellow artists who have supported, encouraged, and inspired her throughout her college journey. She is especially thankful for everyone who has trusted her, challenged her, and helped her grow both as an artist and as a person. She is so excited to share Carrie with you and hopes you enjoy the show. Thank you for supporting student theatre and the incredible artists who bring these stories to life. Christian Ramos (Assistant Stage Manager) is a Third Year BFA Design and Technology major and is so excited to be working on his seventh production at Â鶹ŮÀÉ! He has previously worked on 1776: The Musical (Props Crew), Freaky Friday (Props Crew), Jerusalem Ballet (Light Board Op), Rumors (Assistant Stage Manager), Little Women (Assistant Stage Manager), and The Tempest (Stage Manager). Ashley Garnar (Norma, Dance Capt.) is a senior BFA Musical Theatre major and is so excited to be part of her fifth production at Â鶹ŮÀÉ! You may have last seen him in Â鶹ŮÀÉ’s: The Hollow (Edward Angkatell), The Tempest (Ferdinand), Pirates of Penzance (Police), The Frankenstein Project (Percy Shelly), FireBringer (Clark, Puppeteer US), Dances We Dance, and Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble. Brandon Jerry (Follow Spot Operator) is a sophomore BA in Technical Theatre major and is excited to crew his first ever show at Â鶹ŮÀÉ! He would like to thank his mom, dad, brother, friends, and family for supporting him. He hopes you enjoy the show!

Jonathan Gordon (Crew) is a freshman BA in Theatre Technology and Design and is thrilled to be a part of their first production at Â鶹ŮÀÉ. Despite being a freshman, this is not their first year in theatre. They have worked on run crew for Shrek the Musical and Shuddersome: Tales of Poe, as well as served as props head and designer for Decedents: The Musical and Look Me in the Eye. Jonathan is excited to continue exploring the many sides of theater at Â鶹ŮÀÉ.

Sadie Scardino (Crew) is a Junior BFA Musical Theatre Major with a Dance Minor. Sadie is originally from Naples, Florida then moved here for school. Isabella Cotte (Dresser) is a senior BA Theatre major with a minor in Film at Â鶹ŮÀÉ. She is excited to be part of this production and to continue developing her skills within theatre. Previous Â鶹ŮÀÉ credits include Assistant stage manager for The Hollow, Dresser for The Tempest, Little Women and Usher for several other productions here. Isabella is passionate about theatre, film, and storytelling and hopes you enjoy the show.

Kylie Kraus (Dresser) is junior BA in Theatre Design/Technology. She is very excited to be a part of her first production at Â鶹ŮÀÉ!

Katalin Rezola (dresser) is a Senior BFA Performance Major and is thrilled to be part of this production of Carrie as a dresser. She was last a dresser in Little Women. She hopes you enjoy the show.

Dani Truzman (Crew) is a Sophomore Theatre BA and is so excited to be apart her first college production! She’s really grateful to be a part of this amazing cast and share the stage with her sister, Sara, for the first time. Dani is so proud of her friends and she hopes you enjoy the show!!

Nick Russo (Deck Supervisor) is a theatre designer and technician pursuing his BFA in Theatre Design & Technology at Â鶹ŮÀÉ. He loves building, designing, and bringing stories to life backstage. Nick is excited to be part of Carrie the Musical as Deck Supervisor. Upon graduation this December, you can find Nick in his new role as Mainstage Supervisor for the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. Ìý

Nuelle (Hair & Makeup) is a Senior BA Theatre major and excited to be returning to the program this fall. Her previous Â鶹ŮÀÉ stage credits include A Chorus Line (Maggie Winslow) and Xanadu (Ensemble) as well as BUTC's Spring Awakening (Ensemble/Anna U/S). She would like to thank the Department for a wonderful welcome back.

Meagan Thomas (Props Assistants/Crew)

Devyn Llewellyn (House Manager) I'm a BFA Performance graduating senior, and I'll be house managing this semester's musical Carrie. Previously I worked on shows 1776 (assistant wardrobe head), Rumors (wardrobe head), Freaky Friday (dresser), Pirates of Penzance (Hair and Makeup), Tempest (stitcher), and By Any Other Name (Hair and Makeup Designer). Carver Johnson (Usher) (Undergraduate) is a senior BA in a Theatre major. He was seen in Antigone (Guard III) at the Duncan Theatre at Lake Worth and will be seen in Almost Maine (Pete) at Â鶹ŮÀÉ. The last time Carver crewed in a show at Â鶹ŮÀÉ was when he ushered for the Little Women musical and cried during Beth's last moment.Ìý
