Volunteer Opportunities
Peace Corps
The Peace Corps is a service organization that sends Americans abroad to assist the needs of people around the world. While serving, volunteers are still responsible for their student loans.
However, you may qualify for benefits like deferment, partial cancellation, income-driven repayment, or loan forgiveness—depending on your loan type (federal or private), the specific loan (e.g., Perkins, Stafford, Direct), and your post-service plans.
Medical Studies Volunteer Work
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) offers loan repayment programs through the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) and the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program. The NHSC program provides loan repayment
assistance
to eligible health care professionals
who agree to practice in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) for a specified period. The Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program provides loan repayment
assistance
to registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and
nurse
faculty who serve in eligible critical shortage facilities or nursing schools.
