About National Hazing Prevention Week

National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW), organized annually by the Hazing Prevention Network, is observed during the last full week of September. The week provides colleges, universities, organizations, and communities across the country with an opportunity to raise awareness, educate others, and strengthen a shared commitment to preventing hazing before it occurs. While campuses observe NHPW in different ways, the common goal is to foster cultures rooted in belonging, dignity, respect, accountability, and healthy membership experiences.

At Â鶹ŮÀÉ, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life proudly joins campus and national partners in recognizing National Hazing Prevention Week through educational programs, community conversations, leadership development, awareness campaigns, and opportunities for students to pledge their commitment to creating organizations where every member can thrive without fear, coercion, or harm.

Â鶹ŮÀÉ maintains a zero tolerance policy for hazing. Hazing has no place in our community, regardless of tradition, intent, or an individual's willingness to participate. We are committed to fostering environments where belonging is built through shared values, meaningful relationships, and positive member experiences, not through humiliation, intimidation, or abuse.

Throughout the week, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members are encouraged to learn how to recognize hazing, understand their responsibility to intervene, and become advocates for healthy organizational cultures. Preventing hazing is a shared responsibility that requires education, courageous leadership, accountability, and a willingness to speak up when something is not right.

Our commitment extends far beyond one week each year. Through ongoing education, leadership development, policy enforcement, and proactive prevention efforts, Â鶹ŮÀÉ is dedicated to building a fraternity and sorority community where every student experiences belonging, respect, and safety from their very first day. Together, we are committed to creating a community rooted in Excellence, Integrity, and Impact, where students can define their leadership legacy free from hazing.
