Onboarding Frequently Asked Questions
I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification FAQs
麻豆女郎 is an E-Verify employer, and all hires are processed through E-Verify. We will provide the federal government with your electronic Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States. E-Verify is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration. The completion of the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form is part of the Workday Onboarding process for all new hires and rehires.
All paid employees are required to submit an I-9. The I-9 form is completed by both the employee and the employer. The employee is responsible for completing Section 1. The employer is responsible for completing Section 2.
Employees are required to present their original documents within 3 days of their hire date. For example, if your hire date falls on a Monday, you need to present your documents to Human Resources by Thursday at the latest.
USCIS has identified specific documents that are acceptable for the I-9 employment verification process. The list of acceptable documents can be found on the USCIS website: .
USCIS regulations require that employers accept documents that are genuine and related to the person presenting them. If the employee provides a document that does not reasonably appear to be genuine and relate to them, we are required to reject that document and ask for other documents that satisfy the requirements of Form I-9.
The I-9 Employment Verification begins with an electronic I-9 form that is provided as part of the Workday Onboarding. Once the employee submits the electronic form in Workday, it will route to Workforce Administration & Records Control to complete Section 2 and verify your identity. All new employees are required to provide original and unexpired work authorization documents.
Failure to comply with the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification requirements may lead to termination of your employment.
We have HR Partners at each of our campuses that can assist you. Please contact WARC at hres@fau.edu to make arrangements if you are unable to stop by the Boca Raton campus.
It is a federal requirement that all new employees present their documents to Human Resources within 3 business days of the date of hire. If you are unable to satisfy this requirement, your employment is subject to termination unless you receive approval to change your employment start date.
